jott here to get some words out about the big pharma studio prior our labellaunch on may 1st.

the big pharma studio is located in an old schoolhouse in the middle of the northern hinterlands of germany. the building houses multiple arts and music projects from the area, big pharma studio being one of them.

the recording room (the hyaenidae) was originally just a space for me to play loud music after my first daughter was born and i therefore wasn't able to do much music at home. over time we, my band and i, found ourselves not in the mids of a big empty space but in an actual DIY-professionalistic studio with a lot of possibilities to offer.
we have an arsenal of software and hardware to share, a wide array of effect pedals and all means nesscessary to record all types of instruments, electric as well as classic (including drums) and vox.

we see ourselves as artists supporting artists, playing the role of a label as we move along. inviting Big Pharma Records artists into our studio will be the next big step for BPR/BPE in it's growth as we now can support artists WHILE they are making their art.

BIG PHARMA EUROPA

my name is jott, i am the new head of new-formed BIG PHARMA EUROPA and i want to adress a few words on our new endeavours. not only will BPE start releasing niche and experimental artists from europe as digital downloads starting may 1st. but also, for the first time in BIG PHARMA RECORDS history, we now invite muscians into our studio in germany to record with us, make experiments and share experiences. (more on that in the next blogpost) EUROPA was a nescessary step to prevent BPR from collapsing under it's immense weight. with more people onboard we aim to give each of our artists the focus they need and deserve.

in classical greek mythology, europa (ancient greek: eὐρώπη, eurṓpē) is the name of a phoenician princess wich got abducted by zeus disguised as an ox. (shit story) anyway the name contains the elements εὐρύς (eurús), "wide, broad" and ὤψ (ōps, gen. ὠπός, ōpós) "eye, face", hence their composite eurṓpē would mean "wide-gazing" or "broad of aspect".

BIG PHARMA EUROPA is our way to enable our label to widen it's scope, support more great artists and most of all grow, grow, grow!

BIG PHARMA RECORDS is a great thing going for artists who want full creative control of their releases, keep their rights and release their music with people who truly give a fuck about their art AND the person behind it.

until now BPR was a fully american staffed label wich, in a world with timezones, can be a difficult thing to manage if you aim for close artist relations. so EUROPA is not only a new sublabel, it is extended 'customer care' .

i will update this blog unregulary from now on with a definied schedule setting it on may 1st. until then i will post a few 'behind the scenes' insights from our studio.
